ORGI FOREST,
ULTZAMA VALLEY
What makes the Orgi forest exceptional is its uniqueness: it is one of the few humid oak forests preserved in all of Europe. The oak, with all its strength, had to compete with man for the flat lands where it settled, and in general it lost out. Orgi, is an exception, and as such we can contemplate it now. The route we propose is circular and takes us to Lizaso, one of the 14 councils that make up the Ultzama Valley, where meadows, forests, rivers and towns with enormous mansions give rise to a landscape of singular beauty.

PRACTICAL TIPS
-El Bosque de Orgui has a large parking lot. On holidays and busiest days you will have to pay a fee per vehicle.
-The route is flat and very pleasant. The final section crosses the authorized area of the Orgui Forest with signposted paths, toilets, an information booth and a recreation area with picnic areas.

Elgorriaga Spa***. Elgorriaga. Located in the Malerreka Valley, Balneario Elgorriaga offers elegant rooms with minibars and countryside views, and a spa equipped with thermal pools, sauna, hammam and gym.
Hotel Restaurant Ayestarán. Lekunberri. There are hotels with history, and the Ayestarán opened in 1912 is the story of an elegant era, when the most illustrious people arrived on the Plazaola train to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside. King Baudouin of Belgium, Ernest Hemingway, Orson Wells... spent the night there in a family hotel, declared a Historical Artistic Heritage, and which has all the necessary comforts of modern life.
Musunzar Hostel. Leitza. In the center of Leitza, surrounded by huge Basque farmhouses, is the Musunzar, a charming rural hostel. It is a robust stone building, with its balconies and mezzanines, which has on the ground floor a restaurant with a menu of homemade food, abundant and at a good price, of recognized fame among locals and tourists.
