TOURIST DESTINATION IRUÑA COFFEE SCROLL DOWN

IRUÑA COFFEE

In the Plaza del Castillo, a meeting place for the people of Pamplona, is Café Iruña, a cafe, bar and restaurant that has the honor of being one of the oldest in Pamplona and probably the most beautiful of all. Opened in 1888, it preserves its elaborate original decoration, in a romantic style, a symbol of another era. Imagine sharing a table with Ernest Hemingway, the writer and Nobel Prize winner, who came so many times to the San Fermín festivities and spent so many hours at Café Iruña. In memory of him there is an elegant room, "Hemingway's Corner" with the life-size statue of the writer.

PRACTICAL TIPS

-The cafe is also a restaurant and has an extensive and careful menu with a good quality-price ratio. It has a capacity for 150 guests and it is important to keep in mind that reservations are taken at night but not at midday, although there is usually no problem finding a table if you leave before 14 p.m.

-In addition to the bar and the main dining room, it has a large and cozy terrace in the Plaza del Castillo itself where a varied menu of high-quality pinchos is offered.

-The so-called "Hemingway Corner" is an elegant place attached to the same restaurant, where there is a life-size statue of Ernest Hemingway with which you can have your photo taken. Since Café Iruña is a private entity, access is conditional on having a minimum drink, but what could be better than having a coffee or a drink with such a distinguished and cheerful writer.
