LUBIERRI CAVE – URBASA
Urbasa is an extensive plain of meadows and beech forests on a karst soil that has given rise to large caves like this one in Lubierri to which we will go. A simple route until its final section, where we will have to look for the entrance to the cave and cross it from side to side, from darkness to light tinged by the leaves of the beech trees that make up the spectacular enclave of Lubierri, one of the most beautiful of the entire mountain range.

PRACTICAL TIPS
-Going up the Urbasa pass from Olazagutía, we will pass through two parking areas and soon we will find a signposted detour on the left that indicates the Otsaportillo track that we will take.
-The road until you reach the Majadas de Gollano parking lot is very narrow, and to meet another vehicle you will have to pull over to the shoulder, so we recommend that you drive with caution.
-The path is a round trip, with gentle slopes and is not signposted, but it is easy to follow until its final section where you must be attentive to locate the Lubierri cave.
-The cave is not marked, and can be somewhat difficult to find. Enter with the light of your cell phone flashlight and wait for your eyes to get used to the darkness. The floor is slippery mud but you can cross the cave from one exit to the other without great difficulty.
-After visiting the cave, we recommend walking through its surroundings where you will find beech trees of surprising height.
-You may encounter the undesirable presence of ticks, so we recommend wearing long pants.
