REED LAGOON
Very close to Viana we will find this important natural reserve where birds rest on their long migratory journeys. It all started with Pedro Sáez de Viguera, a farmer who back in the 16th century built a pond for irrigation, which the Viana city council later acquired and expanded with two new dams. Route 7 km. Circular
-Be careful on the detours on the N111 road, which usually has a lot of traffic.
-Check the opening hours of the “El Bordón” bird observatory.
-The route is circular, practically flat and the path wide, so it can be done well with children, even in a stroller.
-It is a land of cereal grasses, especially dry in summer and with hardly any shadows, so the route can be somewhat arid.
-We point out the hermitage of the Virgen de las Cuevas since it is a pleasant place with picnic areas to rest after the walk.
