DESCRIPTION AND WHAT TO SEE IN PETILLA DE ARAGÓN
Petilla de Aragón is a Navarrese island in the neighboring community of Aragón, and its identity is based on its resistance, when against everything against its rock castle it resisted sieges to remain faithful to its king and its land. The castle disappeared but its people remained, in a spectacular environment of mountains and forests, who hospitably receive anyone who comes to visit them. The famous scientist and Nobel Prize winner Santiago Ramón y Cajal, father of neuroscience, was born there, and there you can visit his birthplace converted into a museum. The town is small but its history and its panoramic views are extensive, worthy of a walk along its peaks.
CASTLE
During the Middle Ages the town was defended by a castle that dominated the valley on the cliffs. It passed from the kingdom of Aragon to that of Navarra in payment of debts and was demolished as a result of the Castilian conquest. Today there are hardly any remains.

Justo Ramón was a rural doctor and during his work in Petilla de Aragón his famous son, Santiago, was born. On Calle Mayor is his birthplace converted into a museum with interesting informative exhibitions about his life and work.
