PISKERRA, THE HEART OF THE WHITE BARDENA
Circle route. Long Jump 8,86 km. Unevenness 181 m. Estimated tour time: three hours.
The Bardenas Reales Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve is divided into three zones: El Plano, which is located further north, a terrain with gentle elevations; At the southern end is the Bardena Negra, made up of plateaus of different heights with bushes and forests of the Aleppo pine variety. The dark color of the vegetation is what has given its name to this part of the natural park.
In the center is the area known as Bardena Blanca, it is one of the most visited places in the park, it is distinguished by the whitish tone of the soil and the geological formations found there. The best-known elevations of Bardena Blanca are Castildetierra and Piskerra.
Our route runs through this landscape marked by erosion, taking us through the zigzagging relief of one of the most striking mountains of this unique and desert landscape in the midst of the greenery that characterizes the community of Navarra.
This trail begins next to Castildetierra on a path that leads northeast and Cabezo de las Cortinas, bordering the shooting range, until reaching a detour in the direction of Carcastillo.
Five hundred meters further on, we take a path to the right, which leads us to a roadblock, due to a sinkhole over the river, which we can easily avoid.
Next, we find a path across the plain and after traveling 1,6 kilometers we can see, on the left, the Piskerra Cabin. From this point we begin an ascent that takes us through Bardena Blanca to Mount Piskerra.
After walking about 700 meters we find the old stairs that lead to the viewpoint. Because they are not in the best conditions, it is advisable to wear appropriate footwear for the activity. The views from this place are impressive.
We continue another 1400 meters and approach Piskerra. It should be noted that this path is marked. We go down again to the viewpoint and travel a kilometer and a half to reach the Paso de los Ciervos. From there to the Plana de Rallón there are only about 600 meters. The path is well marked, although poorly signposted. We return to the Piskerra cabin and resume the path we started from.

In what is now the town of Berbinzana, next to the Arga River, was the Benedictine Monastery of Santa María, which was donated by King García Sánchez III to that of Santa María de Nájera in the 11th century. In the 12th century, Berbinzana was already a town belonging to the Monastery of Santa María de Nájera. In later centuries, the town had various transactions and owners. By the 16th century it was granted the possibility of holding fairs and markets.
