TOUR OF THE BULLFIGHTING

The running of the bulls takes place every day from July 7 to 14 and begins at 8:00 am. The route has a length of approximately 825 meters and passes through the streets of the old town of Pamplona.

  1. Santo Domingo Corralillos: The running of the bulls begins in the Corralillos of Santo Domingo, where the bulls and halters (tame bulls that guide the group) wait before the doors open.

  2. Santo Domingo Street: Once the doors open, the bulls and runners begin to run down Santo Domingo Street. This street is narrow and steep, which makes it an especially exciting stretch.

  3. Merchants Curve: After about 200 meters, the course reaches Curva de Mercaderes, a sharp right curve that tests the runners' ability to maintain pace and avoid falls.

  4. Estafeta Street: After passing the Curva de Mercaderes, the running of the bulls continues along the famous Estafeta street. This street is straight and wider, allowing runners to have greater speed.

  5. Telefónica and Callejón: At the end of Estafeta Street, the runners reach the bullring. Before entering the square, they must pass through the section known as “Telefónica” and then through the narrow “Callejón”. Here the excitement and tension is concentrated, since the bulls are very close to the runners.

  6. Bullring: Finally, the bulls and runners arrive at the bullring, where the running of the bulls ends. The bulls are later fought in the bullfights that take place in the afternoon.

PRACTICAL TIPS

The best thing would be to run the running of the bulls in San Fermín, quite an experience, but we are not going to recommend it either. So we are going to explain to you, to the best of our knowledge, the route, its parts and what you should know, but we warn you that with hardly any signs on the streets you will have to let your imagination fly to get an idea of such a dangerous race.

-BULLRING. In the Callejón, the dreaded “heaps” usually occur, in which the fall of a young man causes the young men who come running behind to fall until forming a pile such that it prevents the passage of the bulls. We recommend you take a guided tour of the Bullring.

-There is a sculpture of the bullfight on AVENIDA DE RONCESVALLES, next to the bullring, where it is common to take photos.
