Called garaiak, or gareak in the Basque language of the area, Aezkera, the granaries are warehouses on pillars that were used to store grain and avoid humidity and rodents. The Aezkoa Valley preserves 15 of the 22 granaries of Navarra, and they are declared Assets of Cultural Interest. The hórreo is a complementary construction of the house, whose form of construction and materials are similar to the type of house in which it is framed. It was used to store grain, safe from humidity and rodents. We present a route to walk through the different towns of the Valley and you will find yourself among its stone houses with the Aezkoan granaries:
In Garaioa, the Maisterra house
In Hiriberri, those from the Reka, Portal, Jauki and Elizondo houses.
In Garralda, the one from the Masamiguel house.
In Aria, those from the Jauki, Apat, Etxeberri and Jamar house
In Orbara, the Jabat house.
In Orbaizeta, those at home, Etxegarai, Larrañeta, Primorena
