SAIOA
Saioa is an imposing peak over the valleys of Baztán and Esteribar, which is reached through the Artesiaga mountain pass, which crosses a leafy beech forest. We will park closest to the summit where the beech trees have already abandoned us, making way for the bare peaks with their mountain pastures where flocks of sheep and herds of horses live. The final stretch of Saioa has very steep slopes, but the reward for our efforts is one of the widest panoramic views in all of Navarra.

PRACTICAL TIPS
-The port of Artesiaga has a road in good condition, but narrow and full of curves, drive with caution.
-We will park at the top of the port in a wide esplanade.
-The path is easy to follow, it has signage and at all times we see the top of Saioa to which we are heading.
-The route is short but hard, especially in the final stretch with very steep slopes.
-The alternative is to climb Zuriain, of similar altitude, but with gentler slopes.
WHERE TO SLEEP
1-Hotel Donamariako Benta**. Ms. Maria. Rustic style decoration, with wooden floors and beamed ceilings. The hotel restaurant, located in the old stables, serves traditional Navarrese food. Donamariako Benta has a bar and a library with a selection of books and music.
2-Elgorriaga Spa***. Elgorriaga. Located in the Malerreka Valley, Balneario Elgorriaga offers elegant rooms with minibars and countryside views, and a spa with thermal pools, sauna, hammam and gym.

4- Hotel Baztan***. Gartzain. It is the ideal place to enjoy the tranquility, traditions and cuisine of the area. The rooms are simply decorated and feature extensive gardens and an outdoor pool.
