THE 16 BEST ROUTES AROUND THE IRATI JUNGLE

It is considered the largest beech and fir forest in all of Europe, in tough conflict with the Black Forest of Germany, but what makes it unique, in addition to its size, is its excellent state of conservation and a reservoir, the Irabia, located in the middle of the forest and which creates a large open space in which beech trees, with their colorful leaves, are reflected in the limpid waters. The Irati jungle is a must-see destination when visiting Navarra, and in its surroundings we will find many routes for hiking or mountain biking. The entrance to the jungle is usually made from two points, the first located near the town of Orbaizeta takes us directly to the Irabia swamp, and the second, from Ochagavía, brings us closer to the hermitage of the Virgen de las Nieves, an old construction with a wooden roof from which many paths start and which has a large parking lot and information point.

Colors

The Irati jungle, with its tall beech trees, is a draw for tourists, especially during autumn when the leaves turn ochre, yellow and red, giving rise to a spectacular landscape. In winter the white snow floods the roads, and from the Abodi cross-country ski resort we can enjoy winter sports. In spring, with the new leaf, the green is an intense shade and in summer the sun rules, illuminating the forests and rivers in multiple reflections.

The valleys

The valleys of Aezkoa and Salazar They guard this impressive natural legacy, and in their beautiful towns of mountain houses and cobblestone streets we can rest in their many rural houses and hotels that lovingly welcome all those who visit them.
